Take a Hike!

If you're looking for an easy, beautiful hike to do with kids, dogs, strollers or all of the above, I recommend Thunderbird Falls, near Eklutna Lake. It's about 20 minutes to the top, if you count stopping a couple time to do pooper duty. At the end of the trail, there's a nice viewing platform with benches, perfect for having lunch. We always take the side trail on the way down that goes to the stream coming off the falls (not sure of the name?), and splash in the water a little. Brrrr! It's cold!



On a sunny day, it's a busy trail, so I don't worry about bears. They don't like tourists all that much. ;)

until we headed back down the trail. When Lizzy stopped and laid down, I knew she was too pooped to go on. So Sage loaded her into her backpack, and Lizzy was totally content to be carried to the bottom.

It was a great day!
